Once again found out that videos no longer worked due to an out of date plugin and the need to pay for a licence. Abandoned that and the videos are now back up and running.

We've added an extra chart showing Louis' weight against how many weeks old; makes it easier to read and compare.

Some interesting Linnaean dog terminology.

Androcles and the lion…

We had our own Aesop’s fable last night. Sue returned from the evening walk early as Louis had started limping part way round.

We couldn’t see anything obvious in his paw but, on closer inspection with a torch I could see what looked like a piece of glass. Louis was very good through all of this but we put his muzzle on at this point just in case he didn’t view what was coming next too kindly.

I tried to get it out with a pair of tweezers but had no joy. It was obviously a nasty piece of glass as Louis was pretty jumpy with it. He’s pretty good in his muzzle but you can’t help but feel bad as he looks at you.

Anyway; the use of tweezers must be a girlie thing as Sue managed to get a grip on the very end of the offending piece. One second later we had a piece of glass out that was between 8 and 10mm in length; no wonder he was unhappy. Two seconds later the muzzle was off and Louis was bounding around again. To make us feel better he got given loads of Schmako treats.

The amount of glass on the pavements has got worse since the local authorities started recycling collections. Glass is recycled on alternate Tuesdays and that evening usually ends up with quite a few sections of the pavement covered in glass. Very Victor Meldrew of me I know but I am getting old so can therefore moan and complain without worry.

Summer snoozing…

Here’s a few pictures of the household in their usual, hyperactive, mode. First of all there’s the cat…

Then there’s the hound…

And then there’s the finest exponent of the art of afternoon napping, Suzy…

This is what usually greets me when I get home from work. I have to tip-toe around the place so as not to disturb them.

Weather forecasters…

It’s a Bank Holiday weekend – the first Early May Bank Holiday I’ve been home for in about 7 years as I’m usually in the US for a trade show (that’s now next week, Orlando this year, someone’s gotta do it). I checked the weather forecast for round here on Friday; the weather then was really good. The forecast for Sat/Sun/Mon was pants.

Well they got the Saturday wrong as today has been lovely; culminating in me doing the third bbq of the week. It’s just going dark now, it’s 9:15pm. Let’s see what tomorrow brings.

Thunder and sparks

We got caught out in the thunder today; wow it was close the lightning was so loud. Louis took it in his stride, the only thing he didn’t like was the torrential rain. 👿 Louis and I went to my mums this afternoon and decided to go on the walk I used to go on with my first Rhodie down Spath Lane and across the fields. It took me back thirty years and a little more. Louis and I are getting ready for a big show tomorrow; bacon butties, Red Bull, and chocolate – what more could you ask for, decent weather may be pushing it I suppose. 😎 I sent Andy a photo of his boy looking out of the window for him, I’m hoping this makes him come home sooner as we’re pining away.
