Latest News

Once again found out that videos no longer worked due to an out of date plugin and the need to pay for a licence. Abandoned that and the videos are now back up and running.

We've added an extra chart showing Louis' weight against how many weeks old; makes it easier to read and compare.

Some interesting Linnaean dog terminology.

Halloween Hound

We gave up long ago trying to dress Louis up for festive occasions. One time when he was a very young pup he donned (well, technically he was donned in) a superman outfit but he looked so forlorn we didn’t make him wear it for long. Since then we’ve just about managed to get him to sit still to pose with a Santa hat on every now and then at Christmas but that takes quite a few treats. He must think he’s a supermodel and his modelling rates are very high.

Anyway Halloween has just been and gone and the web is full of of images of dogs (especially US ones for some reason) dressed up in all manner of clever outfits.

This is about as far as Louis got – a Halloween treat which he demolished in a short spell of concentrated munchination.

Look Into My Eyes

I was looking over this blog the other day and re-read the lessons page where we tried to list what had worked for us as Louis grew. I think I’ll do a version 2 of that where I’ll describe how we eventually gave in to all his demands.

Here’s the reason why he eventually gets his own way:-

Look into my eyes.

Look into my eyes; you’re feeling sleepy…..

Who could resist?

Newton’s Laws

We like to obey the laws of physics in this houselhold. I’ve already discussed Newton’s First Law:- Inertia

Here’s is Louis obeying the laws:-

Louis at rest.

Body at rest.

Followed by:-

Body in motion.

Body in motion.

Whilst not a true example of his third law:-

“For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.”

It’s a good analogy. Actually it’s probably another good example of the first law.

Louis The Kitchen Gadget

Louis always appears in the kitchen when the time’s right. He doesn’t waste his time by pitching up when there’s nothing to beg or steal and he has the Sunday roast routine down to perfection.

First of all he lets you know he’s here to help:-

Louis on parade.

Louis on parade.

Followed by a short period of whimpering once the first carrot is ready:-

Louis helping with the veggies.

Let me help you with the veggie preparaton.

Louis doesn’t need any kitchen gadgets to chop them carrots up:-

Louis helping with the veggies.

Louis helping chop the vegetables.

After he’s helped with the preparation he disappears back into the dining room and stretches out on the mat for another couple of hours of badly needed sleep before the roast is ready when he magically reappears to help with the slicing.

Finally after the meal he pre-washes all the plates before the dishwasher although I’ve been told we shouldn’t announce that!
