Louis versus all the sheep in Wensleydale…

We’re just back from camping – a week in Hawes in Wensleydale. We’ve not been there since Louis was a pup (we didn’t walk him so much that time) so it was his first time in the fields surrounded by sheep. It would appear that Louis would like to take on all the sheep in Wensleydale!

We had plenty of good long walks and visited some old haunts such as Hardraw Force followed by a few beers at the Green Dragon. This time we also trekked up the old Roman Road by Wether Fell which was a bit of a slog but got rid of a fair few calories to make space for some beer when we got back down again.

It was difficult finding walks that we could take Louis on; most of the pathways have stiles that Louis can’t fit through. Lifting a 45kg dog over a ladder stile when he’s not happy with the situation is no fun!

The picture is from the gardens of Bolton Castle; as can be seen the weather was glorious. We were lucky with the weather; it rained for half an hour just as I put the last peg in the ground after putting the tent up and it lashed it down overnight on the Tuesday. As there was a fair bit of sun we are both peeling and Louis spent one day wearing a wet towel to keep him cool.
