We have been suffering from excessive “you never feed me” faces from Louis whilst we sit at the table; see Kitchen Design Flaw, plus we’ve got a health and safety issue with the floods of dribble posing a slippage danger. As such we have changed the rules.
We now put his bed by the kitchen door and he has to sit there if he us to get a treat or two. He learnt pretty fast but still cannot resist trying to sneak back in.

It’s hard work keeping to our own rules when you have that face staring at you.
Ours is 17 weeks old, currently weighs in at 17kg, and very much yes we get this look especially when we’ve just fed him and our belgian shepherd, then sit to our own meals (SO Where’s MINE?!?!) – and read the one on pulling the leash.. I’m using positive thinking on him stopping then?
Hi Wendy, thanks for taking a look at Louis’ space out there.
I’m always amazed that Louis can dispose of his dinner faster than a Dyson but then, two minutes later, give you that “you’re starving me, you nasty biped” look.
As for the pulling – well I’m sure that will get better the older yours gets. In his puppy days Louis would try and drag you across the road just to check out a wind-blown leaf. I was always amazed at how such a (relatively) small quadruped could drag me about when I was five times his weight.
Louis is better as far as leaves go now (he’s soon to be four). He’s really good when you are on slippy pathways; you’d hardly know he was on the lead. But…he’s an absolute b#gger on a normal road walk for just doubling back quickly for a scent. That’s the kind of pulling on the leash that I find difficult to deal with as it’s unexpected. (Maybe I just need a better nose so I can anticipate it).
That weight of 17kg seems to be very close to what Louis was at that age. We have to be pretty strict these days to make sure we don’t give him too many treats but with that face he pulls it’s difficult!
